Cooking with Young Living Essential Oils


Friday February 18th cooking with Young Living Essential Oils - Lemon, Basil, and peppermint etc., was something new and different!

The demo was a challenge for Jo and I and after research and experiments we picked recipes to showcase the oils.
Please remember you can only cook with Young Living Essential Oil.

Herbs contribute hugely to the taste and enjoyment of food. For the stir-fry prawns we used four different oils; Prawns with Ginger oil, prawns with Coriander, prawns with basil oil and prawns with lemon grass oil. We also cooked Prawns with fresh ginger also. One dish of roast vegetables with rosemary infused olive oil. Jo's chicken lasagna was cooked with essential oils and fresh herbs to test the taste. Jo also mixed chocolate with peppermint oil- so yummy!
Fee of Y.L. Essential Oils opened the event with general information about the oils and took many question from the floor. Nigel took over for all the tasting!

As they say seeing is believing but in this case tasting is believing and I was quite impressed with the taste!

Recipes Tips using Young Living Essential Oils

Olive Oil - add various essential oils to your olive oil, such as rosemary

Herbs - take any recipe that calls for dried herbs and replace with Young Living essential oils. Fennel, basil, oregano, peppermint, lemon, nutmeg etc. Use 1-6 drops, depending on the oil and the recipe.

Tomato Gravy for Pasta - add 2 drops of basil oil to tomato saucel, 1 drop of rosemary and 1 drop of thyme oil.

Spaghetti sauce - add 2 drops of oregano oil to homemade spaghetti sauce

Smoothies - add orange or rose oil.

Creme de menthe ice Cream - add peppermint oil to a scoop of vanilla or chocolate ice cream.

Potato salad - add 1-2 drops of dill oil to potato salad.

Flavored Water - add 1 drop of peppermint oil to your water bottle at the gym. This is for fresh breath and digestion.

Rice Pilaf - add 3-4 drops of lemon oil to the water before adding the rice.

Salad and Fruit Rinse - use 2-3 drops of lemon oil in a bowl of water to clean lettuce, grapes, berries, and greens. It washes away dirt & bugs, revitalizes wilted greens and leaves lettuce tasting fresh.

Waffles and Cakes - add 1-4 drops of orange oil to any baked goods to make extra delicious. Simply add to the wet ingredients.

Tea drinks - add orange or lemon oil for added flavor.

Fresh laundry - put 2 drops of lemon oil on the drier sheet to make clothes smell fresh.

Lemon Chicken

Ingredient:
4 breasts Chicken - cut into bit size pieces
2 medium onions - thinly sliced
6 spring onions - chopped small
2 cloves garlic - crushed
Salt & Black pepper to season
1 green pepper - sliced
2 drops Y LLemon Oil
2 drops Y L Orange Oil
2 drops Y L Tangerine Oil
Olive oil

Method:

Heat the olive oil in wok, add garlic cook for 1 minute. Add the chicken breasts and stir until cooked, add the onions, spring onions and green pepper. Stir fry for another 5 minutes approx. Remove from heat and add the Lemon, Orange & tangerine oil. Serve hot.

Optional:
Can change green peppers to green beans or other veg.

Stir-fry Prawns with Essential Oils

Basic Ingredients:
½ kg Prawns - shelled and deveined
2 to3 cloves of Garlic - crushed or finely chopped
1 onion - finely sliced
4 Spring onions
Olive oil to cook

Choices: Young Living Essential Oils: (plus many more)
Ginger or Coriander or Lemon Grass or Basil


Method:

Heat the olive oil in wok, add the garlic and cook for 1-minute approx. Add the prawns and stir fry until almost cooked, add the onions and spring onions and stir fry all until cooked - approx 5 minutes.
Remove from heat and add 2 drops approx of the essential oil - test with one drop first and get the taste you require.
Serve hot.
